Natural Ways to Prevent Wrinkles

This is got to be the only creature on earth who is celebrated for their wrinkles! While there is nothing we can do to stop the process of aging there are a few things we can do naturally to turn back the clock a little and prevent unnecessary lines developing.

I don’t know about you but when I wake up in the morning and look in the mirror I have lines on my face simply from sleeping on my side or stomach. Sometimes these lines disappear fairly quickly but other times (especially when I am tired) they are still there a few hours later. What’s worse, the wrinkles formed by creasing our delicate skin on our pillows will eventually cause premature ageing. There is no amount of anti-wrinkle cream that will help prevent these wrinkles when you continue to sleep on your side or stomach.

The good news is there is a solution and it’s so simple and not too expensive! It’s something  many of the top dermatologists, cosmetic surgeons and hair dressers recommend.

Silk pillowcases!

Cotton draws moisture out of your hair and skin so those expensive creams you’re putting on your skin can’t really do their job.  When you sleep on a silk pillowcase your skin and hair will glide over it effortlessly rather than be torn and creased.

A silk pillowcase will also help your blow dry last longer and stops damage to your hair as you toss and turn.

Silk breathes so it’s good for people will allergies or sensitive to dust mites.

A silk pillowcase may set you back a little more than a cotton one (approx. $60), but it’s still less expensive than continuing to buy expensive skin products.

There are various places you can buy silk pillowcases online and in store but here is one for reference:

Of course you are still going to want to apply a product to your skin to help with drying but don’t be fooled by so many of the expensive treatments being brought out by the popular cosmetic brands. Your skin is the largest organ in the body and absorbs everything straight into the blood stream so be careful of harmful chemicals in products. This will only create an acidic body which is the leading culprit in premature ageing.

Instead of creams and potions which are heavily marketed to prevent ageing try a natural and organic serum such as Argan Oil or Rose Hip Oil. There are also many brands that combine a few natural serums such as Argan with Vitamin E and I just picked up a serum by Swiss Vitamins which contains, Argan, Rose Hip and Vitamin E Oil with a few essential oils. My personal preference is 100% Argan oil because it is also helping me treat my acne (yes Argan oil, despite being an oil will help reduce the amount of oil your skin produces and also work on scarring and moistening skin)

The most important thing you can do to prevent re-mature aging is  to stay out of the sun and eat nutrient rich foods that create an alkaline. Also reduce the amount of acidic foods. You only have to look at pictures of Kris Carr, Kimberly Snyder and Alicia Silverstone who all are advocates for Vegan lifestyles. They look years younger than they are. I am not saying you need to go as extreme as turning vegan ( I sure as hell am not a vegetarian!) but at least look at adding a truck load of vegetables to your diet and reduce the amount of red meat, processed foods, sugar, gluten and dairy.

Before you fork out all your money for expensive potions and botox or fillers start looking at what you can do naturally first. There is nothing more beautiful than a woman aging gracefully. Lines are indications of the rich lives we have lead. If there is one thing we can be certain of in this life is that we are going to age! Embrace it, forget about how your face is changing and be as healthy as you can be so you can keep up the energy to do all that you desire. Let your face glow from your inner health and happiness.

What a wonderful post and a post every woman can learn from, I have always had such good skin throughout my childhood and teenage years, but never really looked after my skin, i am now paying the price. I am 25 years old now, and since starting the gym 2 months ago my skin has become atrocious, i tried everything. I am now on special creams and antibiotics that the doctor prescribed and my skin has improved a lot. I want to start looking after my skin more naturally so i will definitely try Argan oil. Once purchased though, do you put it all over your face, or just on problem areas? i,e Acne, wrinkles etc..

Hi Alexandra, I put Argan oil all over my face and neck but you only need a small amount. Also try tea tree oil if you have break outs. Antibiotics aren’t great to be on long term so try the more natural approaches. :)
